Description
Weaving manipulates an element outside the Weaver's body. The Weaver shapes it to the their will but can never absorb it. Making stones float, turning water to ice, directing a bolt of lightning, all are acts of Weaving. Because nothing is stored, a Weaver needs their element physically present and within reach to work with it at all; there is nothing to manipulate on otherwise.
Strengths and Limitations
A Weaver's reserve is called Vigor and isn't the element itself but their own stamina, bodily and mental capacity that depletes with exertion. The deeper or wider the Weaver reaches with their weaving, the greater the cost. Pushing duration or reach far enough brings real strain: headaches, physical fatigue, Vigor running out. Unlike a Reaper's stored element, this reserve holds nothing external to draw on once spent, only the Weaver's own remaining strength.
An empty pool isn't itself lethal. What is, is continuing to weave past that point. With nothing left to draw on, the body starts drawing on life itself instead, and pushed far enough, that draw kills.
Recovery
Recovery isn't governed by time alone. A Weaver's capacity is tied to their overall physical and mental health, not a separate source that simply refills on a clock. Full strength only returns at full health, an unhealed injury, ongoing illness, or exhaustion holds capacity back no matter how much rest surrounds it. A broken bone, for instance, keeps a Weaver's full strength out of reach until it has properly healed, regardless of days passed. If a Weaver's health worsens during that time, they can end up weaker on the fourth day of rest than they were on the first, no matter how much sleep they've had.
Manifestations
What a Weaver can do varies by affinity, but both reach and scale come at a cost. Sensing or affecting something small and close is easy; extending that same control across distance, as when searching out a hidden water source far beyond sight, demands far more, and shows in the toll it takes. A Weaver who overreaches isn't left powerless forever, but for the moment, spent.
Mutual Exclusivity
No individual can both Weave and Reap. Every person able to touch the Aether is one or the other, a divide as fundamental to how they wield their affinity as the affinity itself.
